We recently got a 1Sheeld board that uses our smartphones built-in sensors to make cool Arduino projects. It communicates via bluetooth and it has a free App over at Google Play Store (makes us wonder if an iOS version is on it’s way). The 1Sheeld launched in Kickstarter has a pretty big audience at the Maker Faire 2014 in San Mateo.
Getting started from unboxing and running the basic I/O functions is quite easy. We used it with an Arduino UNO to run some example codes and it work alright. However the “notification” sample seems to be not working properly because we can’t see any notifications in our Samsung Note 2. We’ll try another Android phone next time just to be sure.
Overall, the 1Sheeld is a good addition to our collection of Arduino accessories. We will continue our experiments with it and will share with the community interesting things that we’re going to find out. Meanwhile those who want see how it works can visit us in our Shop or buy it [button link=”https://www.circuit-help.com.ph/product/1sheeld-replace-your-arduino-shields-with-smartphone/” newwindow=”yes”] here[/button]
